This Bible translation project was started to provide a free, accurate (gender and otherwise), easy-to-understand and up-to-date-with-today's-world Bible translation for SWORD-based Bible programs. An alternative for the current translations available for GNOMESword and BibleTime, et al. The main goal for this project is help increase ease with Bible study. Footnotes are included, and, after the first public release, cross-references, etc. will be added. Suggestions to make this translation better will be accepted after the first public release. This Bible translation is not to be mistaken with the "Committee on Bible Translation" (CBT), nor is this Bible Translation sponsored by anyone. This is a personal project done in my own private time. The reason for the name "Combinatorial Bible Translation" is due to the fact that it is based on 8 different Bible translations to assure accuracy in translation. These 8 include (in the order of priority):
- Today's New International Version (TNIV)
- New Living Translation (NLT)
- English Standard Version (ESV)
- World English Bible (WEB)
- Bible in Basic English (BBE)
- American Standard Version (ASV)
- King James' Version (KJV: 1769, with Strongs and Morphology)
- Septuagint (LXX: with Morphology)
What to Expect
I used the first two as the main basis of my translation. You can expect to see similarities in clarity and understanding from the TNIV and NLT. To learn more on the TNIV and NLT, you may visit the following: TNIV and NLT.
This project is far from finished, and not expected to be any time soon.
